A swell buoy is installed since July 31st in Saint-Martin.

It allows to measure in real time the height, period and orientation of waves. These measurements are essential to improve crisis management during cyclonic periods. They will also provide the calibration of numerical models of swell and marine submersion in order to characterize the sea states offshore and to anticipate the future effects of climate change.
